 The pattern is in US terms
Items required 
4mm (6) and 5mm (H) hooks.   If you don’t have a 4mm hook use a 4.25mm hook instead.
Double knit (8 ply) white & pink yarn
Stitch marker
2 x pink buttons & 2 x beige coloured buttons (or colours of your choice)
Wool needle

Guidelines
At the end of each round just carry on.
Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed.
HK - hook
CH - chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single crochet
SC Inc – Single Crochet Increase. Increase by placing 2 sc in 1 stitch.
SC Dec – Single Crochet Decrease. Hook through 1st stitch, yarn over hook, pull hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook, pull through. Yarn over hook and through 1st 2 loops, yarn over hook and through last 2 loops.
HDC – half double crochet
HDC Inc – Half double crochet Increase.  Increase by placing 2 hdc in 1 stitch.
HDC Dec – Half double crochet decrease.  Yarn over hook, through 1st stitch, yarn over hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook pull through.  Yarn over hook and pull through all the loops.
DC – Double crochet
DC Inc - Double crochet Increase. Increase by placing 2 dc in 1 stitch
DC Dec – Double crochet decrease. Yarn over hook, through 1st stitch, yarn over hook through, yarn over hook, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook pull through.  Yarn over hook and pull through 1st 2 loops, yarn over hook and through all the hoops left.
Gauge
7 sts & 6 rows = 2”
If your hat is coming out too big go down one hook size and vice versa if it’s too small.

Basic Hat
Using 5mm (H) hook & white yarn.
At the end of each round just carry on.
Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed.
Ch 2 (or use magic circle)
Round 1) 6 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook (6)
Round 2) 6 hdc inc (12)
Round 3) *1 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (18)
Round 4) *2 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 6 (24)
Round 5) *3 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (30)
Round 6) *4 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (36)
Round 7) *5 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (42) (newborn go to round 11)
Round 8) *6 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (48)
Round 9) *7 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (54) (3-6 months go to round 11)
Round 10) *8 hdc, 1 hdc inc * x 6 (60)
Round 11) hdc around (newborn 42, 3-6 months 54, 6-12 months 60)
Newborn need another 9 rounds after round 11
3-6 months need another 10 rounds after round 11
6-12 months need another 12 rounds after round 11
When you have finished the above slip stitch x 2, finish.


Nose
Using 4mm (6) hook & white yarn.
Ch 6
Round 1) sc in 2nd ch from hk, 2 sc, 3 sc in last ch, (carry on the otherside), 3 sc, 2sc in last sc (carry on around the other side for start of next round, use marker to mark which is the 1st stitch)
Round 2) sc inc around (24)
Round 3) *1 sc, 1 sc inc* x 12 (36)
Round 4) sc around (in the back loop only) (36)
Round 5-6) sc around (using both loops again as normal) and ss to finish (36) (leave enough yarn to sew to hat)

Attach the 2 buttons to the nose.
Sew the nose to the hat (remember to stuff before attaching all of the nose)


Eyes x 2
Attach the buttons for the eyes

Horn
Pink yarn 4mm (6) hook
Carry on around for next round
Ch 10, ss to join to make a circle
Round 1) 10 hdc
Round 2) 1 hdc dec, 8 hdc
Round 3) 1 hdc dec, 7 hdc
Round 4) 1 hdc dec, 6 hdc
Round 5) 1 hdc dec, 5 hdc
Round 6) 1 hdc dec, 4 hdc
Round 7) 1 hdc dec, 3 hdc
Round 8) 1 hdc dec, 2 hdc
Round 9) Join all together with hdc dec in all 3 to finish.
Stuff the horn and attach to the hat




Ears x 2
White yarn 4mm (6) hook
Ch 7
Row 1) sc in 2nd ch hk, 5 sc, ch 1, turn
Row 2) 5 sc, 3 sc in last sc, 6 sc down the other side, ch 1, turn
Row 3) sc around, ch 1, turn
Row 4) sc around and finish.
 

Attach the ears to the hat.


Mane
Cut 6 strands of white yarn and knot in front of the horn to make the mane.
