The pattern is in US terms

Items required 
5mm (H) & 4mm (6) hook .  If you don’t have a 4mm hook use a 4.25mm (G) hook.
Double knit (8 ply) Black, white & orange Yarn
Wool needle
Stitch Marker
2 x 15mm black buttons

Gauge
2” = 7 stitches x 6 rows

Guidelines
HK - hook
CH - chain
SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
SC Inc – Single Crochet Increase
SC Dec – Single Crochet Decrease
HDC – half double crochet
2 HDC INC – Increase by 2 half double crochet in the stitch
HDC DEC – Half double crochet decrease.  Yarn over hook, through 1st stitch, yarn over hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook pull through.  Yarn over hook and pull through all the loops.

Ami Body
Black yarn & 5mm (H) hook
Ch 21
Round 1) 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk, 18 sc, 1 sc inc (carry on round the otherside), 19 sc (carry on moving stitch marker to the start of each round)
Round 2 – 24) 40 sc
Round 25) 40 sc, 1ss
Round 26) stuff & ss through both sides of the Ami


 

Face
White Yarn & 4mm (6) Hook

Round 1) 6 hdc in 2nd ch from hk (carry on moving stitch marker to the start of each row as you go)

  1. Your top and bottom finished pictures appear to have flippers, how do you make them? The ami body picture is rectangular, how do you attach the face and make the little corners that show on the bottom finished pictures (that look like ears, even though penguins don't have ears you can see like that)?

    1. Sorry about that I have added the wings. There aren't really corners. I just sewed the face to the body. It might look like that because of the way it's stuffed. Not as much stuffing in the corners.

  2. I love how the finished project locks. I would like to make one but I can not find the instruction for the arms(wings). Am I wrong?
