I've Made Friday Week 69

Wow I hope you are all having a good week.
The UK is still hot, humid and sunny.
We've had some flash flooding
and thunder storms
but we haven't had it too bad.

Things have been hectic here!!!
We've had Little Reds eye test, his birthday
and hubby is off as well.
We've been trying out experiments and playing games.

He had such a good time!
I can't believe my Little Red is 7 already!
I love the fact that my little man still wants to open his cards before his presents.

As you can imagine the week hasn't been it's normal peaceful self.
And just to prove it things haven't gone quite to plan.
Especially when it comes to my crocheting.

I wanted to make Little Red a Perry Hat.
I'd already purchased a pattern a while ago.
I had the right coloured yarn so off I went.
I made a baby one previously and it didn't turn out too badly.
I don't know whether it was the yarn, my gauge or the pattern but it just didn't work!
When I first finished I didn't even take a picture it looked that bad.
Then I washed and pinned it (using paper molded in a plastic bad) to shape.
I starched it and tried 3 different ways of pinning it.
Every single time the hat just bowls round your head and the brim flops to a wave.
There are a few things about the pattern that I may change to see if it will help.
I'm going to frog the brim and put less increases to stop it from waving.
I think I'll also start the brim only in the top loop to see if it will shape the brim better.
I'm just not sure. The thing is even I shape the brim it doesn't change the shape of the hat :-(
Oh well!

I haven't managed to finish my mittens so you'll have to wait for them.

I have however finished my dress:
Crochet Addict UK Reviews

The Pattern is from: Simply Stitched by SheriAnne
This is what it should look like finished:
And here is what mine looks like finished:
I decided to keep it white because it just looks so beautiful.
I love the way the design is put together
and the changes in stitches make the bodice and skirt look fantastic.
I'm sure some newborn baby is going to look beautiful in this.
It just makes you want to smile.
I really enjoyed this pattern. It was really easy to follow.
I did change the start of the rounds with sc to a ch1 as I prefered it that way.
I think it turned out beautifully and I am sure it would be a fantastic present for any baby.
The fantastic thing is the pattern comes in sizes newborn-24 months.
Sheri has some fantastic other patterns available:

I received a free copy of the pattern to review.
All opinions are my own.

I haven't finished any books this week.
I'm going to try better next week but with Little Red
off school my energy running out fast!

Now it's your turn to share what you've made this week.
It doesn't have to be crochet, anything you are making
is perfect.

Please add the pin to your post & check out a couple
of other people that are sharing their work.

  2. I think the hat is pretty, but with less increases the brim will look less floppy. I like the baby dress too. Have a nice weekend. Regula

  3. Well, you may not like the way the hat turned out, but your son looks like he is extremely happy--and that's better than a flat hat brim any day :)

    Cheers!
