Baby Fox Hat Newborn -12 months



The pattern is in US terms
Items required
4mm (6) and 5mm (H) hook. If you don’t have a 4mm hook use a 4.25mm (G) hook instead.
Chic Cotton Yarn – Henna Goddess & Natural available worldwide at Xena Knits
Black DK (8 ply) 100% cotton yarn
Stitch marker
Wool needle

Guidelines
At the end of each round just carry on, do not join with a slip stitch. 
Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed.
HK – hook                                           CH – chain                           SS – Slip Stitch
SC –                       Single crochet                                   
SC Inc –                Single Crochet Increase. Increase by placing 2 sc in 1 stitch.
SC Dec –               Single Crochet Decrease. Hook through 1st stitch, yarn over hook, pull hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook, pull through. Yarn over hook and through all the loops.
HDC –                    half double crochet                        
HDC Inc –             Half double crochet Increase.  Increase by placing 2 hdc in 1 stitch.
HDC Dec –           Half double crochet decrease.  Yarn over hook, through 1st stitch, yarn over hook through, yarn over hook, through next stitch, yarn over hook pull through.  Yarn over hook and pull through all the loops. 
DC -                        Double Crochet

Natural Chic: 28.5-55 yards

7 sts x 6 row = 2”
If your hat is coming out too big go down one hook size and vice versa if it’s too small.

Using 5mm (H) hook & Henna Goddess Chic yarn.
At the end of each round just carry on.

Change to Natural Chic yarn
ð        Round 9)              hdc around (newborn 36, 3-6 months 42, 6-12 months 48)

When you have finished the above carry on and complete the earflap

Earflap 1 (Newborn – 3 months)

ð        Round 3)              4 sc in back loop only (carry on around the nose) 6 sc, join with ss to 1st sc (leave enough yarn to attach to the hat and create the mouth)
 Attach to the hat & embroider mouth as well

Eyes x 2 (all sizes)
4mm (6) hook & Black yarn (natural chic for dot in eye)
Ch 2
ð        Round 1)              4 sc in 2nd ch from hk (4) (carry on around)
ð        Round 2)              1 dc, 2 sc, 1 dc, finish (leave enough yarn to attach to the hat)


 Using Natural Chic embroider a dot in the eye


 Attach the eyes to the hat



Front of Ears x 2 (all sizes)
4mm (6) hook & Natural Chic Yarn

ð        Row 4)                  1 hdc dec, finish (1) (leave enough yarn to attach to the back of the ear)


Back of Ears x 2 (all sizes)

 Attach the front of the ear to the back


 Attach the ears to the hat
